Ingredients:

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans (28 ounces each) of crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) of tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is translucent.
Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce is thickened.
In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and egg until well combined.
Spread a thin layer of the tomato sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer 4-5 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce. Spread a layer of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Repeat the layers until all of the ingredients are used up.
Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired.
