Ingredients:

  • 1 beef brisket (about 4-5 pounds)
  • 2 tablespoons coarse salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper, ground
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 medium onions, sliced thickly
  • 2 green bell peppers, sliced thickly
  • Aluminum foil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C).
  2. Mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder in a small bowl to make the spice blend.
  3. Rub the spice blend all over the brisket, making sure to coat it evenly.
  4. In a large Dutch oven, mix together the tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and beef broth. Place the sliced onions and green bell peppers on top of the sauce.
  5. Place the brisket on top of the vegetables and sauce in the Dutch oven.
  6. Cover the Dutch oven with aluminum foil, making sure to seal it tightly.
  7. Bake for about 6 hours, or until the brisket is tender.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for another 30 minutes to brown the top of the brisket.
  9. Remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing it to serve.
